Farm Friday: Heeley City Farm
As I was leaving Sheffield at the end of a catsitting gig, it dawned on me just how close Heeley City Farm was and that I could manage a quick visit before leaving town. So, I took the bus back from the city centre and trekked up the hill to Richards Road. I was greeted with the typical urban farm sight of a young man with encouraging farm supervisors persuading a somewhat stubborn Golden Guernsey goat to move from the stables to green pastures for the day. A further little wander, uncovered more familiar sights and faces, including excellent programming for alternative education provision, adult supported placements, lots of polytunnels and gardening space, and some lovely rare breeds...
Bagot goats that were a bit calmer and friendlier than usual.
Golden Guernsey goats, which have recently received a Royal title and hold a special place in my heart for their affectionate demeanor.

Walking around reminded me how such an idyllic place can become the most important place for some people and therefore the shaping and and care of such sites carry great responsibility.
