Why am I doing this?!?!?

Why would an introvert that is highly critical of her own writing start a blog? Well, the answer may lie in one or all of the following:

1. When I announced that I would be moving to Canterbury,UK for a year-long Msc programme, my cousin Eric, who has a Ph.D. in Literature, suggested that I start a blog entitled 'Canterbury Tales' to share all my experiences with my family (and perhaps make a little money off of later ;-).

2. My friend Jessica has been on me for a while that I need to journal because I have a tendency to over-think and over-analyze everything. . .. you know, a kind of therapy for those who cannot turn their brains off. This also ties in with the fact that many of my family members tend to give me journals as gifts, I guess assuming that a highly reflective introvert must journal.

3. My friend Ilaria, who is not a native English speaker/writer, has amazed me with her joy and love of writing (even in English!!). She and I have decided that perhaps I would love it too if I was able to "just write" and not criticize everything that I put on paper because nothing is going to be absolutely brilliant the first time around.

4. Anthropology, which is the department in which I'm currently studying, is a very reflexive discipline and although I tend to be very reflective, good research requires actual documentation of this reflection concerning situations that arise. So, this forum will hopefully help me in documenting my research experiences these coming months.
